Arsenal returned with a new enquiry into signing Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Pedro Neto after long-standing interest.

Pedro Neto seemingly remains on the Arsenal radar after they tried to sign the Wolverhampton Wanderers star this summer.

That is according to a report from The Telegraph, who claim that Arsenal enquired into a possible deal for Neto.

Wolves saw a host of players leave the club this summer including Adama Traore, Nathan Collins, Ruben Neves, Joao Moutinho and Raul Jimenez.

The Telegraph note that ‘it could have been worse’ as a number of Wolves players received interest.

Defender Max Kilman was wanted by Napoli whilst Hugo Bueno and Rayan Ait-Nouri were targeted by RB Leipzig and Nice respectively.

Arsenal sniffed around Neto too as they have considered him a target for some time now but no deal was done.

We’re probably going to hear about Arsenal wanting Neto in every transfer window at this rate.

Football Transfers reported in April that Arsenal were preparing a summer push for Neto’s signature.

The Express claimed in January that Arsenal had a ‘firm interest’ in Neto as a potential alternative to Mykhailo Mudryk.

Arsenal were keen in the summer of 2022 as well, according to The Times, but were quoted a hefty £60million transfer fee at the time.

Neto has previously admitted to TalkSPORT that he grew up supporting Arsenal because of Arsene Wenger, so the chance to play the Gunners is one he would surely love.

Arsenal may view left-footed Neto as the ideal competition for Bukayo Saka down the right flank with Edu clearly a long-term admirer of the 23-year-old.

Neto needs an injury-free season this term

Hailed as ‘special’ and ‘sensational’ by Jamie Redknapp back in 2020, Neto looked destined to become a star for Wolves.

Injuries have really set Neto back though, first suffering a knee injury in 2021 and then an ankle injury in October 2022.

Now back fit again, Neto really needs to avoid injury this season and get back to his best.

The early signs are encouraging; he’s played 90 minutes in each of Wolves’ first four league games this season whilst picking up three assists.

Neto appears to be on the rise and Arsenal will be watching very closely as they probably plot a 2024 move to finally sign the Portuguese ace.
