Hull City youngster Chuba Akpom issued an apology to supporters and his manager after reacting angrily when substituted in the win over Reading.
The 20-year-old reared petulantly, shaking his head and throwing his gloves to the floor after being taken off in the 2-1 win.
The score was locked at 1-1 when Steve Bruce took him off, and it was for his own good after he had confronted Reading’s Danny Williams after a mistimed tackle.
Akpom commented on Twitter after the game to apologise for his actions.
Hull went on to win the game thanks to a 90th minute goal from Jake Livermore, to keep their promotion push moving in the right direction.
Akpom is on loan from Arsenal, and is learning about the competitive nature of Championship football the hard way.
The England under-21 striker has scored just three goals in 21 league games for Hull, 14 of them starts.
