Sassuolo have marked Palmeiras forward Gabriel Veron as a potential successor for Arsenal and Liverpool target Domenico Berardi, amid interest from Fiorentina, per Calciomercato.
The Mapei Stadium hierarchy are preparing to replace Berardi before the market closes next Tuesday. Fiorentina continually dream of taking the Italian to Tuscany and dressing him in purple, after a phenomenal campaign last season and helping to win Euro 2020.
Berardi did not feature as Sassuolo opened the new Serie A season by beating a 10-man Hellas Verona on Saturday. Alessio Dionisi did not even name the Neroverdi captain in his matchday squad, despite him scoring 17 goals and eight assists in 30 outings last term.

Berardi’s Sassuolo and Italy performances also sparked interest from Arsenal and Liverpool this summer. Corriere dello Sport reported the forward’s agent knows Jurgen Klopp wants to sign the 27-year-old. While Gazzetta dello Sport claim Mikel Arteta also made enquiries.
The Premier League rivals are still in with a shout of signing Berardi, despite Fiorentina’s amorous appreciation of the forward. Calciomercato also report Fiorentina and AC Milan are currently loath to pay Sassuolo their €40m (£34m) asking price this summer.
But should things change at the Artemio Franchi Stadium and Fiorentina move for Berardi, Sassuolo are prepared. The Neroverdi would contact Palmeiras to discuss 18-year-old Veron, who has 11 goals and six assists in 47 first-team appearances.
Veron offers Arsenal and Liverpool new hope of signing Sassuolo star Berardi
Sassuolo lining up Veron as a potential replacement for Berardi amid strong interest from Fiorentina also offers Arsenal and Liverpool renewed hope of signing the Italian maestro.
Fiorentina are currently reluctant to make up the ground needed for their dreams to be a reality. Yet Sassuolo are seemingly ready to lose Arsenal and Liverpool target Berardi if a club matches their valuation.
Arsenal or Liverpool can also land a Sassuolo ace who Fabio Capello lauds in Berardi. The former England boss was full of praise after the winger scored against Turkey at Euro 2020. He told Sky Italia: “Berardi created his own goal and near the area, he was dangerous.”
