Benfica striker Darwin Nunez is a man in demand – and the Arsenal, Liverpool and Tottenham target again showed his quality with a hat-trick this weekend.
Nunez has been in absolutely ridiculous form this season and it just isn’t slowing down at all.
Benfica took on Belenenses SAD on Saturday and actually fell behind as Afonso Sousa struck a shock opener for the visitors.
Nunez took over though, bagging an equaliser before showing great movement and finishing ability to put Benfica ahead.
Nunez had his hat-trick just moments later, firing home a left-footed finish to secure a 3-1 home win for Benfica.
That’s now 24 goals in 24 league games this season, with Nunez’s total record standing at 31 goals in 36 outings.
It now almost feels like it would be more of a surprise if Benfica managed to somehow keep hold of Nunez beyond the summer transfer window.
Tottenham Hotspur are understood to have scouted Nunez in action for Benfica against Liverpool just a matter of days ago.
Liverpool themselves have been looking at Nunez for a ‘long time’ according to Melissa Reddy whilst Record claim that Arsenal have started talks over a deal.
Many more Premier League clubs are also thought to be keen on signing Nunez, with Saturday’s performance no doubt strengthening interest.
Of those three clubs, we would make Arsenal favourites; here’s why.

Liverpool don’t necessarily need a striker right now; it’s hard enough for Jurgen Klopp to fit Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino, Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Luis Diaz into his attack.
Splashing big money on Nunez – around £65million – just doesn’t add up for Liverpool unless somebody is leaving.
Tottenham do need a striker to support Harry Kane but it’s hard to see them paying that kind of money. Additionally, would Nunez really want to and play second fiddle to Kane?
Arsenal desperately need a striker who can pose a real goal threat and Nunez fits the bill, with the Gunners seemingly willing to spend this summer.
That Nunez hat-trick is just one goal short of Alexandre Lacazette’s league goal tally all season; that’s exactly why the Gunners want him.
