Martin Keown has praised Arsenal forward Gabriel Martinelli on talkSPORT (10:15am, January 21, 2022) for his performance against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The Arsenal legend was impressed by Martinelli in the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to Liverpool at the Emirates Stadium in North London on Thursday evening.

It was the second leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final tie between the two Premier League games.

Keown said about Martinelli on talkSPORT (10:15am, January 21, 2022): “I saw Martinelli play last night. Absolutely fantastic performance.”

Gabriel Martinelli bright spark for Arsenal v Liverpool

In our view, Martinelli was one of the very few Arsenal players who did well against Liverpool.

The 20-year-old forward was so good that even Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp was impressed.

Martinelli started on the left of an attacking four behind lone striker Alexandre Lacazette and was one of the very few Arsenal players who did well.

The Brazilian caused problems for Liverpool right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold in the first half and was always looking to make things happen for Arsenal.

Martinelli took two shots and one was on target, had a pass accuracy of 80%, won two headers, took 53 touches, attempted four dribbles, made two tackles and one clearance, and put in six crosses.

In our opinion, Martinelli is now a very important player for Arsenal, and he will only get better in the coming years.
