Fabrizio Romano has confirmed that Arsenal are fans of Tammy Abraham, amid speculation that he has been offered to Tottenham Hotspur.
The Telegraph reported this past weekend that Arsenal were keen on signing the £40 million-rated Chelsea hitman.
In the same report, it was claimed that the out-of-favour hitman had also been offered to Tottenham.
Here’s what the reliable Italian journalist has said about the situation on Twitter:
Who needs him more?
Firstly, Tottenham and Arsenal don’t need to be spending £40 million on any striker who only has 26 Premier League goals in 89 games in the top flight.
It isn’t an awful return, but it isn’t a goal return worthy of a figure like that either and Chelsea must know that they are chancing their arm a little.
That being said, both North London clubs do need additional firepower.
The Gunners had the third-best defence in the Premier League last season but struggled in a big way at the other end of the field.
And with Alexandre Lacazette linked away, you can see why Arsenal are in the running for a number nine.
And as for Spurs, well it’s no secret that Harry Kane may be leaving the Lilywhites summer but, again, Tottenham will need a much better forward.
Kane is one of Europe’s finest goalscorers and although Abraham, at 23, will get better, it’s unlikely he’ll ever be on the England international’s level.
