Toulouse have accepted an offer from Bayer Leverkusen for striker Amine Adli, according to Sport1, following rival interest from Arsenal, Leicester and Bayern Munich this summer.

Bayer Leverkusen have moved to sign Adli after the Frenchman produced a stunning haul in Ligue 2 last season. He scored eight goals and provided eight assists to fire Les Pitchouns into the Ligue 1 promotion play-off.

The 21-year-old is yet to get off the mark this season, after referee Frank Schneider sent him off on the opening day against Ajaccio. The Stadium Municipal affair may now be his last in Toulouse colours, after Bayer Leverkusen offered €15m (£13m) for Adli.

Toulouse have accepted Bayer Leverkusen’s bid, which includes add-ons, as they seek to avoid Adli leaving for free next summer. Bayern Munich also explored signing the ex-France U18 international, but could not match their Bundesliga rivals’ offer.

Arsenal and Leicester also explored signing Adli from Toulouse before Bayer Leverkusen advanced. TuttoMercatoWEB cited the Premier League duo among a host of suitors earlier this summer. Among which eventually included Wolfsburg and Troyes, but Le10 Sport claim he rejected both. Instead favouring joining Bayern Munich, which ultimately fell through.

Bayer Leverkusen are now speaking with Adli and his representatives to agree on personal terms ahead of his move. The BayArena outfit targeted the Eu-born forward after selling Leon Bailey to Aston Villa for €30m (£25.5m) earlier this month.

Reports by Goal backup Sport1’s claim of Bayer Leverkusen and Toulouse agreeing a fee for Arsenal and Leicester target Adli. Additionally, the French variant of the news outlet note Bayern Munich offered him a move to Germany, but would only have occupied a rotational role – rather than starter – under Julian Nagelsmann, who appreciates his quality.

Arsenal and Leicester to miss out to Bayer Leverkusen for Toulouse gem Adli

Arsenal and Leicester seem set to now miss out to Bayer Leverkusen in the race to sign Adli from Toulouse. The Premier League rivals could rue not agreeing terms with Les Pitchouns for their young gem. He produced a stunning record last season and Die Werkself clearly have high hopes, if Adli’s replacing Bailey. The Jamaican scored 15, assisted 11 in 2020/21.

A Bayern Munich director also told Sport1 of Adli: “The player has incredible potential. You have to get it, but we didn’t have a chance.” While beIN Sports’ Margot Dumont also notes: “He is technically very talented, always plays forward, is fast, tricky and very dangerous for goals. He also has a great mentality and has practically never failed on the field.”

Arsenal and Leicester would have adored nurturing a talent like Bayer Leverkusen-bound Adli with those traits. Instead, they will likely watch the Toulouse product rise in Germany.
