Arsenal want Youri Tielemans and are now confident of securing him amid claims that there have been no Champions League offers for the Leicester City star.

The Gunners missed out on Champions League football and subsequently may not be as busy this summer.

Arsenal do still need to make signings though with another central midfielder wanted at the Emirates Stadium.

Granit Xhaka looks set to stay and Mohamed Elneny has signed a new deal, yet finding Thomas Partey’s long-term partner has to be the priority.

Albert Sambi Lokonga isn’t ready for that yet and Arsenal are now very interested in signing Tielemans for that very role.

Arsenal want Youri Tielemans

Links to Tielemans have been gathering pace over the last month or so.

There were claims that Arsenal had held talks to sign Tielemans and the initial negotiations were very promising.

It was then suggested that Tielemans was holding off agreeing a move because he wanted to see if Arsenal qualified for the Champions League.

Then it all went wrong for the Gunners, missing out on fourth place to bitter rivals Tottenham.

That seemed to throw a spanner in the works over Tielemans but they now have renewed hope.

The Daily Mail claim that whilst Tielemans wants to join a Champions League club, nobody in the Champions League has shown any serious interest.

It now looks like Tielemans, who has just one year left on his Leicester deal, will have to settle for joining a club outside of Europe’s top competition.

Arsenal are now allegedly confident that they can agree a deal for Tielemans, believing that the Belgian could end up in North London after all.

Leicester will listen to offers for Tielemans as they don’t want to lose him for free in 2023.

The 25-year-old hit six goals and four assists in 32 games last season but, much like Leicester as a team, his form was pretty up and down.

Leicester would hate to lose the midfielder branded a ‘special player’ by ex-Foxes teammate Wes Morgan, but this decision seems to be a business one.

Unless a Champions League club suddenly ramp up their interest, it looks like Arsenal may still manage to sign Tielemans anyway and finally land the midfielder they want.
