Micah Richards has criticised reported Arsenal target Youri Tielemans on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:38pm, February 7, 2022) for his performances for Leicester City so far this season.
The former Manchester City defender believes that Tielemans, linked with a move to Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal, has been a shadow of the player he was last season.
CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs reported in January that Arsenal manager Arteta “admires” the Belgian and was considering signing him.
Richards said about Tielemans on BBC Radio 5 Live (7:38pm, February 7, 2022): “Tielemans was, in my opinion, Leicester’s best player last season.
“I would look at that team and say, ‘He could genuinely be world class, or he is getting to that world-class level’. But this season he has been a shadow of the player that he is.”

Youri Tielemans could flourish at Arsenal
In our view, Tielemans could be a success at Arsenal if he is to make the move from Leicester in the summer of 2022.
Yes, the Belgian is not having the best of seasons, but Leicester as a team are struggling.
We cannot ignore that.
We have seen what Tielemans can do during his time in the Premier League.
And, let’s not forget, Tielemans is only 24.
Arsenal were keen on signing Arthur Melo from Juventus in the January transfer window.
And the Gunners could not get him.
So, Arteta is likely to be still in the market for a new midfielder, and maybe Arsenal would be able to sign Tielemans in the summer of 2022.
