Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta is a fan of Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans, according to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs.

The well-known and well-respected journalist has said that Arsenal boss Arteta admires Tielemans, who cost Leicester City £35 million in transfer fees (Sky Sports).

Jacobs said on The Arsenal Way‘s The Gooner Talk podcast, as transcribed by LeicestershireLive: “I do know that Arteta admires Tielemans, so it is just one to watch to see if it gathers pace over the coming two or three weeks.”

Could Youri Tielemans join Arsenal in January?

In our opinion, it is unlikely that Arsenal will be able to sign Tielemans from Premier League rivals Leicester in the January transfer window.

We know that Arsenal manager Arteta has said that the club could spend big if the right player becomes available.

So the Gunners have money to spend now.

However, Leicester are unlikely to sell as important a player as Tielemans in the middle of the season.

The Foxes are not having the best of seasons, and manager Brendan Rodgers will surely not want to lose the 24-year-old now.

However, in our view, a transfer could happen in the summer of 2022.

LeicestershireLive have reported that Tielemans now has less than 18 months left on his contract, which means that at the end of the season, he will have just one year left on his current deal.

Tielemans has scored 17 goals and created 21 big chances in 102 Premier League appearances so far in his career.
