Tottenham Hotspur finished above Arsenal for the first time in 22 years this season.

Gunners legend Tony Adams sat down for an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard, and took a pot-shot a Spurs, claiming that they do not have enough fans to fill Wembley Stadium next season.

Adams, who won four league titles during his 19-year career with Arsenal, seems to have forged a career out of making wholey unjustified and exaggerated remarks since he retired from the game, on the side of his dismal coaching career of course.

The 50-year-old continued that trend when he spoke to the Evening Standard today, commenting on how he believes Tottenham will really struggle next term when they play their home games at Wembley Stadium, suggesting that it could even open the door for his former club to once again finish inside the top four:

“It’ll be interesting to see how they do at Wembley. It’ll be a big transition and I think they might come off the pace a bit. They’ll find a lot of neutrals there. They don’t have enough fans. It was the same with Arsenal, though we had more fans then than they do know, we drew in a few drifters for our Wembley games. Their real fans will be rattling around there, quite a way from a pitch. Away from White Hart Lane it won’t be a fortress and I think they’ll struggle to get points there. Maybe we’ll get fourth!”

The Lilywhites really struggled when they played their Champions League games at the home of the England national team this season, but have already made moves to help improve their fortunes next term, when all of their home matches will be played at the north-west London venue.

The Times reported that Spurs are considering making the size of the Wembley pitch smaller in time for the 2017/18 Premier League campaign, as they look to replicate the dimensions of White Hart Lane, which proved to be such a fortress for Mauricio Pochettino’s side.

And if they do manage to find a way of becoming more comfortable at Wembley, Adams could very well be made to eat his words.
