Tottenham Hotspur head into the North London Derby against Arsenal as the form side.
Ex-Gunners hitman Ian Wright sat down for an exclusive interview with the Evening Standard, and highlighted how pleased he was that Arsene Wenger did not admit that his Arsenal side are underdogs heading into tomorrow’s clash with Spurs, suggesting that he would have done the same thing.
The Frenchman’s side currently trail Tottenham by three places and four points in the Premier League table, and a win will be absolutely vital for the Gunners, with confidence currently running worryingly low at the Emirates.
That will be no easy feat, however, with Mauricio Pochettino’s well-drilled, highly talented side heading into town.
Many fans and pundits alike have predicted Spurs to turn up at the Emirates and win – a notion that Wenger does obviously not subscribe to.

And Wright, who scored 185 goals for Arsenal, explained why he will never admit that his former side are the underdogs ahead of a derby, irrelevant of how vast the gap between the two sides actually is, as quoted by the Evening Standard:
“You cannot expect Arsene to say Arsenal are underdogs in a game against Spurs. Otherwise the fans would be sharpening the pitch forks! It would be like conceding they have overtaken us. I’d never readily admit we are underdogs to Tottenham… ever. Even with everything Arsenal have won, you would not get a Tottenham fan admitting to be in our shadow because of the pride. The tide is turning, though. It seems like Tottenham are progressing and we are almost regressing. They are a bit above us and we have to accept that.”
The bare minimum that Arsenal fans will expect from the derby is that their players at least put in a shift – something that they have been guilty of not doing on a regular enough basis.
