Jack Wilshere has made it clear that he wouldn’t even join Tottenham this summer for ‘£500 million-a-week’, as the Arsenal legend told talkSPORT.
The former England international, who is now a free-agent, made it clear that he’s ‘not that desperate’ to join Spurs.
For the first half of the recently-concluded 2021/22 campaign, Wilshere was training with Arsenal and coaching the youngsters.
The 30-year-old then moved to the Danish Super League side, AGF Aarhus, in January, signing a six-month contract.
Wilshere shared that he has been offered a return to the club, but when asked about joining Spurs, this is how he reacted.
“If the only offer you got coming into was to go and play for Spurs next season, would you go,” talkSPORT host Andy Goldstein asked Wilshere.
The midfielder responded: “What do you think?”
Goldstein added: “I don’t know how desperate you are to play football.” To which Wilshere responded “Not that desperate.”
On £150k-a-week: “No. You can’t buy me for that much! No, I couldn’t (on £1m-a-week). No (£5m-a-week). No (£500m-a-week/He can run the club). It’s not going to happen.”
WILSHERE’S DECLINE IS SAD TO SEE
At the age of 30, with the 2022 World Cup around the corner, many would have expected a player like Wilshere to still be flying high and at the peak of his powers.
But, aside from his early years at Arsenal, his career has stagnated at a rate not many people expected.
This isn’t a case of expecting Wilshere to be the best of the best right now, but at the very least, being worthy of playing Premier League football.
But he’s dropped from that level now, as it wouldn’t be a surprise if he takes up coaching in his career as his next step.
