Arsenal’s Theo Walcott has impressed this season with a succession of scintillating displays.
Arsenal’s Theo Walcott in action
Speaking live on Sky Sports Now this morning at 10:41 am, Arsenal legend Charlie Nicholas had his say on current Gunners star Theo Walcott’s impressive resurgence in form, claiming that he has become a man.
Walcott scored both of Arsenal’s goals in their 2-0 Champions League win over FC Basel last night, as he continued his fine run of form that has seen him all of a sudden become an integral part of Arsene Wenger’s side.
Nicholas told Sky Sports how he feels Walcott’s change in mentality is behind his recent improvement, and how he is now helping his team with his new-found ruthless nature:

“Maybe the penny has dropped, He’s grown up. Maybe he’s manned up. I watched him really closely last night, he was ruthless in front of goal. He hardly even celebrated when he scored like young kids sometimes do. It was as if he suddenly became a man and went ‘ I have to play my best to be in this team’. I don’t know if he’s suddenly grown up and thought ‘it’s now about me, I have to look after myself’, and that will help the team.”
Walcott’s vast improvement in form has coincided with Arsenal’s resurgence after their disappointing start to the season, after a 4-3 loss at home to Liverpool.

The 27-year-old seems to have channelled his talents and attributes in a more efficient manner, and is focusing on implementing his strengths in key parts of the game.
Arsenal travel to Turf Moor on Sunday to take on Burnley, and will be looking to leap-frog fierce rivals Tottenham Hotspur – who take on Manchester City, into second place in the Premier League table.
