Arsenal are interested in signing Leeds United attacker Wilfried Gnonto but face a battle with Chelsea and Manchester City.

That’s according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, who claim that the race for Gnonto’s signature is already heating up.

It’s stated that Arsenal are ‘following’ Gnonto ahead of the summer transfer window.

The report suggests that Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all ‘convinced’ of Gnonto’s ability to step up to the top level.

Gnonto isn’t thinking about leaving Leeds and his agent Claudio Vigorelli is handling the alleged interest.

Leeds would allegedly want up to €40million (£35million) for Gnonto, which would be an astonishing profit.

Leeds allegedly paid just £3.8million to sign Gnonto on deadline day in September, landing him from FC Zurich.

This deal was almost an accident as Leeds had focused on signing Bamba Dieng instead, but Gnonto is already a wanted man.

Arsenal target Wilfried Gnonto is turning heads at Leeds United

Gnonto was a relative unknown to many before his Leeds move, unless you’re a Football Manager addict.

The teenager had been in the Inter Milan ranks before heading off to Switzerland with Zurich.

Diminutive but a constant menace, Gnonto managed to earn Italy caps before even leaving Switzerland.

Leeds were happy to take him in and he has made a big impact for the Whites this season.

Two goals and three assists in 16 Premier League games may not sound all that incredible, but anybody who has watched Leeds this season has seen the way he can impact games.

The 19-year-old looks destined for a huge future and Leeds owner Andrea Radrizzani has hailed him as ‘exceptional’.

It’s easy to understand why Arsenal may be interested as Gnonto could become a superstar under Mikel Arteta, but Arsenal will have to fork out big cash for the teenager this summer.
