Arsenal have snapped up Leandro Trossard and pundit Jamie Redknapp believes the Gunners have secured an absolute bargain.

The Gunners were desperate to sign Mykhailo Mudryk from Shakhtar Donetsk and were chasing his signature for months.

Edu and Mikel Arteta were hijacked in the end though as London rivals Chelsea swooped in to secure a huge deal.

Arsenal have to move on quickly and there were links to players like Ferran Torres, Raphinha and even Kaoru Mitoma.

Yet Arsenal chose Leandro Trossard as their new man, striking a deal worth around £27million for the Brighton and Hove Albion ace.

Trossard was able to make his Arsenal debut on Sunday as he came off the bench to help the Gunners beat Manchester United 3-2.

Trossard only came on with eight minutes of normal time to play, but he appears to have already made a positive impact.

Jamie Redknapp hails Arsenal ‘bargain’ Leandro Trossard

The Belgian played a role in Arsenal’s winning goal on Sunday, driving at the United defence before finding Oleksandr Zinchenko, whose ball in was eventually turned home by Eddie Nketiah.

Trossard also helped Arsenal kill off the game, showing some fine dribbling skills to keep the ball away from United.

The presence of Gabriel Martinelli down the left flank means that Trossard may well have to cope with a place on the bench for a while.

Still, Mikel Arteta needs game-changing substitutes and that may well be the key role for 28-year-old Trossard moving forward.

Pundit Jamie Redknapp was certainly impressed and hailed Trossard when speaking on Sky Sports (22/01, 6:55pm).

Redknapp suggested that missing out on Mudryk may have felt like an enormous blow for Arsenal.

However, Redknapp believes that Trossard showed in just 15 minutes of action on Sunday that he will be a ‘great signing’ for Arsenal.

Redknapp added that Trossard has ‘great quality’ and looks like a ‘typical Arsenal player’, believing that the Gunners have landed a ‘real bargain’.

“When they didn’t get Mudryk in the transfer window, they might have thought ‘that was a big miss for us’, but they have already shown in a 15 minute cameo that Trossard is going to be a great signing for them,” said Redknapp.

“Great quality, he goes forward with the ball, he’s comfortable on it, he’s a typical Arsenal player if you like. He’s just a good footballer that will score goals, make goals, he’s a good signing. £22 million, that’s a real bargain from their point of view,” he added.
