Robin Van Persie’s protracted move to Manchester United is not imminent as was reported yesterday as Sir Alex Ferguson grows increasingly frustrated at Arsenal’s stance on the transfer. Arsenal are not exactly pleased to be selling the Dutchman to one of their fiercest Premier League rivals and are hoping for new interest from Juventus. The Old Lady appeared to have moved on to new targets but they have seen failed deals for Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani this week so may return to RVP. It appears Man United have hit a brick wall at this present time, but they will persist in their transfer hopes, report The Independent.
Goal.com believes Barcelona are not willing to pay the £15million Arsenal have quoted for the Cameroonian midfield star but have confirmed they are stepping up their interest in his signature. Arsenal are not keen on letting one of last season’s standout performers defect to Barcelona but Arsene Wenger is reportedly angry at how the 24 year old has conducted himself in the wake of interest from the Catalan giants, and this could tempt him to sell at the right price.
Lukas Podolski admits he was tired after a busy summer schedule but now feels he is ready for the upcoming season. Podolski struggled in his country’s Euro 2012 campaign, being outshone by youngster Marcel Reus. Yet he feels he is raring to go ahead of the new season and can’t wait to start scoring goals in the Red and White of Arsenal.
Meanwhile, The Metro believe, despite being the original frontrunners for his signature that Arsenal have lost out in the chase for French prodigy M’Baye Niang. The teenager, who was also pursued by Spurs, will reportedly move to AC Milan instead after considering his options very carefully over the summer. It will be a big blow for The Gunners whose dawdling over his price tag may have cost them the signing of a future superstar.
Arsenal’s new away kit for the upcoming season has finally gone on sale today. A launch party is planned for 6pm this evening which will be attended by former Arsenal star Ray Parlour and pop dup Rizzle Kicks. The kit, which is purple and black hoops with a red trim, is made from recycled plastic bottles and is 23 per cent lighter than previous designs. It has received mixed reviews so far but is available from today for any Arsenal fan wanting to give it a go.
