The Telegraph follows on Alex Song’s recent departure for Barcelona by reporting he is furious over claims he was sold due to an ‘unprofessional attitude’. He instead blamed Arsenal’s inability to sit down and discuss a new contract with the Cameroonian star as the main reason behind his Nou Camp departure rather than the ‘unfounded’ reports of being late for training and generally being lazy. Song completed a £15million move to Spain earlier today.
Arsenal have reportedly beaten Liverpool in the race for Turkey international Nuri Sahin on a season long loan from Real Madrid. Reportedly Arsene Wenger made a personal phone call to the 23 year old in order to convince him to turn down Liverpool’s advances and join the Emirates, where more first team football is now possible after Alex Song’s departure. Goal.com picks up the story of Arsenal having loaned out one of their promising youngsters. Wellington has been allowed to go to Spain for a third time in as many seasons with Ponferradina on a one year spell. The 19 year old has failed to appear for The Gunners and has experienced issues with his work permit since arriving from Fluminense and is now back playing in Spain to gain more first team experience.
The Daily Mail is one of various sources that report Spurs are lining up a shock loan deal for Arsenal striker Maraoune Chamakh. The Moroccan outcast has been unceremoniously shoved down the pecking order at The Emirates with the arrivals of Lukas Podolski and Olivier Giroud this summer and is available on a loan deal. Spurs face competition from Fiorentina and Blackburn for the striker although according to The Metro, AVB is not at all interested in the former Bordeaux marksman and has rubbished the reports.
The Daily Mail believe a deal that was previously reported as dead is now back on. The deal in question would see Nicklas Bendtner being swapped with French international defender Phillipe Mexes at AC Milan. AC are long term admirers of the Dane and feel he would suit the Italian game, but whether Arsenal want to bring in the inconsistent Mexes may prove pivotal to the deal.
