All the latest news and gossip from The Emirates Stadium this evening.
Today has seen Danny Welbeck in action for Arsenal training for the first time as he looks to build on an excellent performance for England in midweek. He scored twice for his country against Switzerland on Monday to give Arsenal fans high hopes ahead of his potential Arsenal debut against Manchester City this weekend.
Welbeck was flogged by Premier League rivals Manchester United this summer for a fee in the region of £16 million on Transfer Deadline day.
It was a move that has polarised opinion, as United flogged one of their young talents and brought in Radamel Falcao as his replacement.
“He does not have the record of van Persie or Rooney. That is the standard. That is why we let him go.”
Arsene Wenger has offered his opinion on 3G pitches after Aaron Ramsey injured his ankle playing on one in Andorra this week.
And he says he is not a fan, but understands they might be a necessary evil:
“I’m personally against [it] but I can understand the decision from Fifa because, in some countries, sometimes it’s better to play on an artificial pitch than on a normal bad pitch. [Like] in Russia in winter, the artificial pitch gives you the guarantee of a flat pitch. And on the other side, the quality of the artificial pitches improve always and get closer to what is a normal pitch.”
