Konstantinos Mavropanos was never a big attraction at Arsenal, but he is making a real name for himself with Stuttgart in Germany.

Arsenal decided to let Mavropanos go

Sven Mislintat’s transfer activity at Arsenal was a mixed bag. In the case of Mavropanos, maybe Arsenal were a tad impatient.

Mavropanos joined Arsenal from PAS Giannina in 2018. After showing potential in Greece, Mislintat was enamoured.

The 24-year-old only has eight Arsenal appearances to his name. It just didn’t work for him at Arsenal, and he has reunited with Mislintat.

Arsenal loaned Mavropanos to Stuttgart in 2020, and that deal was renewed last summer. This time, the loan has a permanent option included.

Arsenal have already decided to let Mavropanos go. His time with the Gunners is over, and he is now trying to show their mistake.

Mavropanos shining in Germany

Mavropanos turned 24 on Saturday and celebrated his birthday in style.

The Stuttgart defender scored the opener in a 2-0 win over Wolfsburg. As the ball ran to the edge of the box, Mavropanos unleashed an unstoppable drive into the roof of the net.

That’s four goals in just 13 league games this season – a staggering record for a defender.

Mavropanos may not have been wanted at Arsenal, but he is being praised in Germany.

ZVW called Mavropanos’s goal ‘an absolute dream’ whilst claiming he ‘defended flawlessly’ with 70% tackle success rate.

Maybe Marvopanos would have never been a star at Arsenal, but Edu may live to regret agreeing such a cheap deal.
