Wenger sold player who ‘hates’ Spurs, teammate claims he’s still ‘supporting Arsenal from afar’

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny may have left Arsenal many years ago but he is still supporting the team over in Italy.

That’s according to his Juve teammate Samuel Iling-Junior, a self-proclaimed ‘Highbury boy’ having grown up in North London.

Iling-Junior has spoken to The Athletic and the subject of Arsenal naturally came up.

“We’re supporting Arsenal from afar,” said Iling-Junior, speaking about himself and Juve goalkeeper Szczesny.

Iling-Junior claims the pair have a strong bond and part of that may well be because of their Arsenal connections.

The report notes that Iling-Junior is ‘conflicted’ over his allegiances having actually come through the Chelsea ranks.

It seems that Arsenal are still in Iling-Junior’s heart though and having a fellow Gooner there in Szczesny certainly brings a sense of home away from home.

Wojciech Szczesny has never hidden his Arsenal love

Szczesny joined Arsenał from Legia Warsaw way back in 2006 having been plucked from the ranks of the Polish side.

Szczesny went on to rack up more than 180 appearances in all competitions for Arsenal having shown promise on loan at Brentford.

The arrival of Petr Cech in 2015 left Szczesny on the bench and he decided to trade North London for the Italian capital as he joined Roma on a two-year loan deal.

Juventus swooped in during the 2017 summer transfer window and is now closing in on 200 appearances for the Turin giants.

Now 32, Szczesny is one of the top goalkeepers in the world and he still loves Arsenal.

When Juventus beat Tottenham in 2018, Szczesny – who was an unused substitute in that game – took to Instagram to mock Spurs, claiming that ‘North London is red’.

Szczesny even admitted in 2012 that he ‘hates’ Tottenham and he has never let that go, keeping him as a popular figure with Arsenal fans.

Knowing that he is supporting the club from Italy is a sign of what Arsenal mean to Szczesny and he would no doubt love to see them win the Premier League title this season.
