Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are planning to make a bid for Juventus midfielder Arthur Melo in the summer transfer window, according to Calciomercato.
The report in the Italian news outlet has claimed that Arsenal wanted to sign Arthur in the January transfer window, but they could not.
However, the Gunners have not given up on securing the services of the 25-year-old Brazil international midfielder – described as “a sensational player” by former Real Madrid and Italy forward Antonio Cassano in Calciomercato earlier this month – and are planning to make a bid again in the summer of 2022.
Could Arsenal sign Arthur Melo from Juventus?
In our opinion, Arsenal would have a better chance of signing Arthur in the summer transfer window than they did in January.
The Athletic reported on January 26 that Arsenal were advanced in talks with Juventus over the Brazilian, but eventually the two sides failed to come to an agreement over the terms of the deal.

The summer transfer window lasts for longer, which will allow both Arsenal and Juventus more time to negotiate.
Arthur himself could be desperate to leave, given that the Juventus no.5 has made only nine starts in Serie A so far this season
The former Barcelona midfielder earns £125,000 per week as salary (Salary Sport), and that is something that Arsenal could be willing to match, especially if they end up in the Premier League top four this season.
