Arsenal journalist shares what he’s been told about Daniel Ek, says whole thing is ‘serious’

Spotify founder Daniel Ek has declared his interest in buying Stan Kroenke out of Arsenal.

The Swedish billionaire revealed last Friday, following protests against Kroenke Sports Entertainment outside the Emirates Stadium, that he was an Arsenal fan who wanted to take over the North London club.

Gunners supporters have been down this road before with the likes of Aliko Dangote, another apparent fan of the Premier League giants with billions to his name.

But Football London reported on Tuesday that Ek’s interest in buying Arsenal is ‘serious’.

The report from Chris Wheatley – who exclusively covers Mikel Arteta’s side – adds that the 38-year-old considers himself a ‘solution to the problem’ in North London.

Is Daniel Ek buying Arsenal?

Well, Arsenal fans won’t be upgrading to Spotify premium just yet.

As mentioned, the Emirates Stadium faithful have seen their fair share of false dawns in terms of prospective owners buying out Kroenke.

And although there’s a lot of speculation about this one, it’s worth remembering that KSE released a statement on Tuesday indicating that they had no intention of selling Arsenal.

This came after reports earlier in the week from The Telegraph that Ek would be launching a £1.8 billion bid over the next 10 days.

There’s something reassuring for Arsenal fans if they knew that one of their own was on the throne in North London.

But there seems to be a long way to go before Ek – who has a personal worth of up to £3 billion according to Forbes – gazumps Kroenke and gives Arsenal back to the people.
