Pundit Danny Murphy has hailed Jorginho for settling into Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal side quicker than most other players would.

The Match of the Day pundit was speaking to the Daily Mail in light of Arsenal’s 1-0 win at Leicester City on Saturday afternoon.

Murphy had praise for Leandro Trossard, who set up the winning goal from Gabriel Martinelli in the second half.

Yet whilst Trossard impressed in a false nine role for Arsenal, Murphy wanted to offer up praise for another January signing.

Midfielder Jorginho impressed in front of the Arsenal back four and had Murphy gushing with praise.

Murphy told the Mail that he feels Jorginho has been ‘important’ taking that holding midfield role in Thomas Partey’s absence.

Murphy even feels that not many players would immediately fit into this Arsenal team but Jorginho has managed it.

“Jorginho has also been important filling in for Thomas Partey. Not many players could come into a team like Arsenal and fit in right away but Jorginho has done just that,” said Murphy.

Murphy seemingly thinks that Jorginho is somewhat unique in his ability to adapt to the Arsenal demands, allowing him to make an immediate impact.

Jorginho is silencing his doubters at Arsenal

Jorginho’s late move from Chelsea to Arsenal really divided opinion.

Some felt that the Italian’s tempo was too slow for an Arsenal team who have been shifting the ball at speed this season.

Others believed Jorginho didn’t have the defensive or physical capabilities to truly take the holding role that Partey has made his own.

Yet Jorginho is bringing a different dimension to this Arsenal team and is now justifying Arteta’s decision to bring him in.

It’s also nice for Jorginho to get this kind of praise after a rather difficult start.

Jorginho featured against Everton and Manchester City for his first two Arsenal games – the Gunners dropped points in both.

Yet bouncing back with two wins where Jorginho was influential will now ease those concerns and the midfielder is getting the praise he deserves right now.
