Arsenal appear to be keen on securing the services of Lille striker Jonathan David – but don’t expect to see him in a Gunners shirt this month.
Arsenal need to find a new striker at some point this year.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang appears to be done at Arsenal. Eddie Nketiah and Alexandre Lacazette are both out of contract in the summer, meaning the Gunners face issues in attack.
Dusan Vlahovic appears to be the popular name at the moment, but Edu is looking elsewhere too.
Football London claim that Edu held talks with the agent of Lille striker Jonathan David in December.
That suggests Arsenal have a real interest in David, and who can blame them?
In 19 Ligue 1 games this season, David has hit 12 goals for Lille. With three goals in six Champions League games too, David is on fire.
The 21-year-old Canadian is expected to move on this year, with clubs queueing up to sign him.
Yet if Arsenal were hoping to push through a January deal for David, they may be left very disappointed.

Agent Nick Mavromaras has spoken to TSN back in Canada, claiming that a January move is not expected now.
Mavromaras claimed meetings are ongoing with clubs – adding credence to the Edu claims – but think David will benefit from a summer move.
“There are no official offers on the table – it’s still the month of January,” said Mavromaras. “To be quite open, we don’t expect any movement in this window.”
“From both sides Jonathan will benefit from a summer move because there is a massive game against Chelsea in the Champions League, and at the same time, Lille absolutely needs his help to get to the European spots for next season. For now we don’t have anything concrete, but meetings are ongoing for sure,” he addd.
