Arsenal have shown an interest in Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners having scouted the Atalanta ace in action.
Atalanta star Teun Koopmeiners is now on the radar at Arsenal following scouting trips to Italy.
That is according to a report from TEAMtalk, who claim that Arsenal have been looking at Koopmeiners.
The January transfer window is fast approaching and Arsenal appear to be in the market for a new midfielder.
Thomas Partey’s injuries continue to be a problem and we have now seen links to Aston Villa star Douglas Luiz.
Arsenal interested in Atalanta’s Teun Koopmeiners
Arsenal may look a little further afield though with Koopmeiners now believed to be a target for the Gunners.
TEAMtalk claim that Arsenal have scouted Koopmeiners amid major competition for his signature.
It’s stated Koopmeiners is a ‘leading target’ for Newcastle United as a replacement for Sandro Tonali following his suspension.
Liverpool are also interested in Koopmeiners with Jurgen Klopp allegedly keen on adding another midfielder.
The report adds that Napoli tried to sign Koopmeiners for around £43million over the summer, but Atalanta will now seek a fee of around £55million.

Who is Arsenal target Koopmeiners?
Koopmeiners came up in the AZ Alkmaar ranks and emerged as a first-team star in 2017 after shining for the Jong AZ side.
43 goals in 154 games for AZ showed off Koopmeiners’ goalscoring abilities, boasting a particularly strong record from the penalty spot.
Koopmeiners also captained the AZ side at a very young age, showing off his leadership abilities before heading to Atalanta in 2021.
Now with nearly 100 appearances for Atalanta to his name, the 25-year-old continues to impress having hit 10 goals last season.
Hailed as ‘extraordinary’ by Atalanta hero Domenico Progna, Koopmeiners seems ready for a big move in 2024 – and Arsenal may well feel that his leadership, passing range and goal threat can make him an ideal addition for Mikel Arteta.
