Arsenal have snapped up defender Jakub Kiwior and he is now set to earn nearly £60,000-a-week after making the move from Spezia.

That’s according to transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, who has been speaking about Kiwior’s move to North London.

Romano claims Kiwior will now earn £3m gross per year at Arsenal after his move was confirmed on Monday.

That works out to nearly £58,000-a-week with Kiwior surely earning an enormous pay rise after leaving Spezia.

This is money Kiwior may have though he would never earn when he was turning out for Zeleziarne Podbrezova in 2019.

The 22-year-old defender has enjoyed a meteoric rise and has now earned his big contract with Arsenal.

According to Spotrac, those wages put Kiwior on more money than the likes of Takehiro Tomiyasu, Gabriel Magalhaes, William Saliba, Emile Smith Rowe and Fabio Vieira.

Jakub Kiwior seems an ideal signing for Arsenal

Gabriel Magalhaes and William Saliba have formed a fine partnership with season, so much so that Ben White is now playing as a right back.

Arsenal have decent cover on the right side of their centre back pairing; White, Takehiro Tomiyasu and Rob Holding can all fill in there.

Yet it’s a different story on the left side, where Gabriel is the only naturally left-sided centre back at Mikel Arteta’s disposal.

Arsenal needed to add another left-sided defender as competition, and there were links to the likes of Evan Ndicka of Eintracht Frankfurt and Bayer Leverkusen’s Piero HIncapie.

Kiwior is their pick and the 22-year-old has been shining over in Italy with Spezia.

Formerly of MSK Zilina, Kiwior has earned comparisons to Milan Skriniar; the Slovakian also turned out for Zilina and both were signed by Italian talent spotter Riccardo Pecini.

Comfortable on the ball, strong in the tackle and with a fine reading of the game, Kiwior looks to be a top prospect and exactly what Arsenal needed to compete with Gabriel.
