Arsenal are set to sign Jakub Kiwior after Mikel Arteta’s knowledge left the player ‘enchanted’ during a video call late in December.

Gunners fans were focused on Mykhailo Mudryk and Leandro Trossard in recent weeks, with Arsenal signing the latter after missing out on the former.

Yet Edu had another move in mind and wasn’t just focusing on signing wingers.

Out of nowhere, Arsenal have been pressing ahead with a deal to sign Spezia defender Jakub Kiwior.

Fabrizio Romano claims a medical for Kiwior is taking place today with Arsenal and Spezia agreeing on a deal worth €25million (£22million).

A naturally left-sided centre back, Kiwior will now offer great competition for Gabriel Magalhaes in the Arsenal back line.

The 22-year-old has been shining for Spezia since joining from MSK Zilina in 2021, earning comparisons to Milan Skriniar.

Jakub Kiwior ‘enchanted’ by Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta

Kiwior has been linked with many clubs over the last year, including West Ham United, AC Milan, Tottenham Hotspur and even Barcelona.

Arsenal seemed to come from absolutely nowhere to basically have the deal done and dusted.

Yet it seems that Edu and Arteta have had this deal in the pipeline for a while longer than first expected.

Agent Rafal Kędzior has now told Meczyki in Poland that Kiwior actually had a video call with Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta before the end of 2022.

Arteta presented a great plan for Kiwior, explaining how he would be able to play first-team football despite the presence of Gabriel Magalhaes.

Arteta also knew so much about Kiwior that the defender was ‘enchanted’ and immediately wanted the move to Arsenal.

“Just before New Year’s Eve, Kuba had a video call with Mikel Arteta, who told about many details, presented a plan for him and what the road to playing could look like. Kuba was enchanted,” said Kędzior.

Kedzior also noted that Kiwior will be at the Emirates Stadium later today to watch Arsenal against Manchester United as his move draws ever closer.
