Arsenal have snapped up Jakub Kiwior and he is planning to speak to former Gunners goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny soon.

The Gunners were focusing on signing Leandro Trossard last week, moving for him after missing out on Mykhailo Mudryk.

Trossard joined Arsenal on Friday, just as rumours surrounding Arsenal’s next move started to emerge.

Out of nowhere, Arsenal were heavily linked with a deal to sign defender Jakub Kiwior from Spezia.

The move accelerated rapidly and come Sunday, Kiwior was at the Emirates Stadium to watch Arsenal beat Manchester United 3-2.

Arsenal confirmed Kiwior’s arrival on Monday with Fabrizio Romano claiming that Arsenal have agreed to pay around €25million (£22million) for his signature.

Arsenał new boy Jakub Kiwior comments on Wojciech Szczesny and Krystian Bielik

Kiwior is far from the first Polish player to join Arsenal.

Goalkeepers Lukasz Fabiański and Wojciech Szczesny both turned out for Arsenal whilst Krystian Bielik joined from Legia Warszawa in 2015.

None of them are currently with the Gunners though; Fabianski is with West Ham United, Szczesny has been a quality goalkeeper for Juventus and Bielik is in the Championship with Birmingham City.

Kiwior will now hope to fare better than all of them at Arsenal, and has commented on a couple of those Polish players mentioned.

Kiwior told Arsenal’s official website that he remembers Szczesny and Bielik in their time at Arsenal – and plans to speak to Szczesny about his move to North London when they reunite for international games with Poland.

The promising defender added that Bielik has already messaged him with congratulations for his transfer, even offering to help him settle in.

That’s a great help for Kiwior and he should have a decent support system around him in Szczesny and Bielik moving forward.

“I remember when Wojciech Szczesny and Krystian Bielik played here,” he added. “I haven’t had a chance to speak to Wojciech yet – we’ll definitely have a chat when we meet up for international duty.”

“I got a message from Krystian straight away congratulating me. That was nice, plus he told me to text him if I had any problems or anything like that. I’m really happy to get such a positive reaction right away,” he added.
