Arsenal want Ivan Fresneda but Borussia Dortmund appear to have confidence that they are leading the race for the teenager.

That’s according to the Daily Mail, who claim that Arsenal have matched Dortmund’s £13million offer for Fresneda.

This was suggested by The Athletic on Monday, who claimed that two offers were on the table and Fresneda was deciding on his next club.

Arsenal and Dortmund are now left waiting to see what Fresneda decides, but the Bundesliga side seemingly feel that they are leading the race.

Both teams have agreed to loan Fresneda back to Real Valladolid until the end of the season.

A decision is believed to be coming in the next 24 hours and Arsenal will hope that Dortmund’s confidence is ultimately misplaced.

Who is Arsenal target Ivan Fresneda?

Fresneda, 18, was born in Madrid and actually spent four years in the ranks of Real Madrid between 2014 and 2018.

Fresneda moved on to Leganes and then Valladolid, where he has now emerged as a first-team star.

Primarily a right back, Fresneda has managed 12 first-team appearances this term having only played twice in the second division last season.

Fresneda plays for Spain’s Under-19’s and has picked up four caps with senior call-ups surely coming in the future if he continues this progression.

Valladolid boss Pacheta has called Fresneda ‘fantastic’ and Arsenal are now hoping that he fancies joining up with fellow Spaniard Mikel Arteta.

Arsenal may let Cedric Soares leave for Fulham if they can secure Fresneda, adding a long-term option at right back.

Dortmund have been a great home for young players but Fresneda should consider that they have just signed a new right back in Julian Ryerson.

Arsenal have been using a centre back at right back in Ben White and the Gunners can sell Fresneda on becoming their long-term solution there.
