Kaveh Solhekol has told the Transfer Show on Sky Sports (11/08/21 at 7:35 pm) that Arsenal-linked Tammy Abraham has been told by Jose Mourinho that he can become ‘world-class’.
The wanted striker is set to depart Chelsea this summer, with AS Roma and Arsenal seemingly the front-runners for his signature, with some suggestions that he wants a move to the Emirates.
Abraham was part of the Chelsea squad that won the UEFA Super Cup in Belfast on Wednesday night – he was an unused substitute.
Sky reporter Solhekol has claimed that Arsenal remain interested in Abraham, but Mourinho has been calling the player about moving to Italy.
“Roma are trying to convince him really, really hard to try and convince him to move to the Italian capital,” said Solhekol.
“Their general manager, Tiago Pinto, has actually flown to London for talks to try and convince Tammy Abraham’s representatives that Roma is the right place for him.
“I think the real issue is that Arsenal are also interested. I think he was an Arsenal fan growing up. He would prefer to stay in London and prefer to stay in the Premier League.
“Sky Italy were reporting that Mourinho was calling Abraham yesterday to try and sell Roma to him. I think what they are telling Abraham is ‘look at Romelu Lukaku. He had a bit of a difficult time at the end of his career at Man United. He came to Serie A. Look at how his fortunes changed.’
“I think Mourinho believes Abraham has it all to become a really world-class striker. And he just wants to work with him to develop him to that finished article.”

The main reason Abraham is leaving Chelsea is because of a lack of game time, so his next stop has to provide him with minutes without any questions being asked.
Roma clearly would provide that under Mourinho’s stewardship, whilst Abraham gets ahead of Eddie Nketiah at the Emirates.
Pierre-Emerick Aubamyang plays out on the left, so that leaves the Englishman battling it out with Alexandre Lacazette.
And given that there have been suggestions that the Frenchman could leave this summer, then that opens the pathway for Abraham to earn the much-needed minutes at Arsenal.
