According to Sport, Arsenal and Manchester United are both interested in signing Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembele.
The Frenchman is available for a cut-price fee with just 18 months of his contract left to run, and Barcelona want to cash in rather than losing him on a free.
Dembele is certainly a talented player, earning himself a £135.5 million move to Barcelona after flourishing at Borussia Dortmund, but since moving to Spain, things haven’t quite gone to plan.
The winger has had numerous injury problems, but when he has turned it on, he has looked like one of the world’s top talents.
Arsenal fans may best remember him for his performance against Tottenham back in 2018, in which he scored an incredible solo goal that saw him dribble half the length of the pitch before slotting home.
Dembele needs to find a new stomping ground in order to resurrect his career, and the Emirates may be that place.
However, if Arsenal do sign Dembele, you have to ask what that means for their current attackers.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Alexandre Lacazette, Nicolas Pepe and Willian are all on massive wages, and if Dembele comes in, they can’t all fit into the XI.
The report states that this move is dependent on Arsenal’s financial power and Dembele’s willingness to move to the London club, so it’s far from a done deal yet, but if the Gunners can sign the 21-cap French international, he would certainly be an exciting option for Mikel Arteta’s side.
