Arsenal icon Bacary Sagna has lauded the north London club after their 5-0 win against Nottingham Forest, the Gunners’ best result of the season so far.

Taking to Twitter, the retired France international praised his former side as Mikel Arteta’s men cruised to a huge result against Forest, taking Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table and giving the Gunners a much-needed boost to their goal difference.

Arsenal suffered their first loss in some time earlier this week after a 2-0 defeat in Europe to PSV Eindhoven, yet the Premier League side responded in the perfect manner upon their return to the Emirates Stadium with a 5-0 result against Forest, who famously beat the north London giants earlier in the year in the FA Cup.

As well as a big result, Arsenal’s performance was one of the best this campaign, with Reiss Nelson stealing the show with a brace and assist off the bench as goals from Gabriel Martinelli, Thomas Partey and Martin Odegaard rounded off the victory.

Indeed, with Chelsea next up in the Premier League for Arsenal, a convincing result was needed this weekend, and the north London side did just that against Forest, who were nowhere near their best following their incredible win against Liverpool last week at the City Ground.

A season-best result was the perfect response for Arsenal after their loss to PSV and their draw to Southampton last Sunday. And the performance should give many supporters confidence that the Gunners can embark on yet another winning run before the 2022 FIFA World Cup break.

Indeed, with four games left to go until the pause in the season, Arsenal will be feeling confident that they can win every fixture before the mid-November break. And for Sagna, the former Gooner is right to laud the club for their performance this weekend against Forest.
