Arsenal have made a bid of €35 million (£31.95 million) for Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar, according to RMC Sport.

Earlier this week, Le10 Sport reported that Arsenal were planning to make a bid for the 22-year-old Frenchman, as covered by HITC Sport here.

RMC Sport has now claimed that that offer has come, and it remains to be seen what response the Gunners get.

ESPN has also reported that Arsenal have bid €35 million (£31.95 million) for the youngster.

Do Arsenal need to pay more?

According to Get French Football News, Lyon are asking for €60 million (£54.77 million) as transfer fee for the 22-year-old midfielder, who is “a fabulous player to watch” and “drives past people”, according to comments from Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand on BT Sport on August 19, 2020.

ESPN claims that although Lyon wanted €60 million (£54.77 million), they could now accept €40 million (£36.51 million) or €45 million (€41.07 million) due to the global health crisis.

The report has added that the midfielder ‘is keen on joining the Gunners’, and that the North London club will return with a new bid, with their initial offer likely to be rejected.

Stats

According to WhoScored, Aouar has made one start and one substitute appearance in Ligue 1 for Lyon so far this season.
