Arsenal will be looking to raise funds any way they can this summer – and they have now received a small boost.

The Gunners don’t have the biggest budget to work with this summer, and we could yet see the likes of Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Sead Kolasinac, Calum Chambers and Lucas Torreira move on.

They have now received funds from a deal that didn’t directly involve them, thanks to a sell-on clause.

Middlesbrough have snapped up Chuba Akpom from PAOK Salonika, and have allegedly paid £2.75million to bring him back to English football.

Akpom came up through the Arsenal ranks, and hit 18 goals in 79 games for the Greek side following a 2018 switch.

When Arsenal sold Akpom they inserted a clause into the deal that meant they would receive 40% of the fee if he joined an English club, as noted by the Daily Mail.

That has now happened with Akpom’s move to Boro, so Arsenal will be taking 40% of the £2.75million; around £1.1million.

It’s not a huge amount, and it certainly won’t pay for Houssem Aouar or Thomas Partey, but it gives Arsenal with some unexpected cash at a crucial time.
