Arsenal will reportedly cool their interest in Brazilian talent Danilo in the January transfer window to pursue a deal to sign Leicester City midfielder Youri Tielemans.
According to 90min, the Premier League leaders have made the Belgian international their main midfield target for next month, with Tielemans expected to leave the Foxes with the 25-year-old’s contract set to expire in the summer transfer window.
As per Football London, Tielemans could be available for £25m in January, a deal which will be seen as many Arsenal supporters as very affordable as the north London side look to sign a top midfielder to add to their squad depth.
This change in stance from Arsenal might be seen as the Gunners dropping all their interest in Danilo, but as stated by 90min, the Palmeiras wonderkid is still very much on Mikel Arteta and Edu Gaspar’s radar, with a move in the summer likely from the English giants.

Indeed, the decision to instead shift focus from Danilo to Tielemans is quite a smart one from Arsenal, as many fans would agree that signing an experienced midfielder would be better off in the short-term that a talent who will need. a season or two to fully adapt to the Premier League.
Moreover, with Arsenal top of the English top-flight heading into Boxing Day, there’s a real possibility that the Gunners could win the Premier League, and as exciting a midfielder Danilo is, signing Tielemans would be the safer and more sensible option for Arteta in January.
Experienced midfielder is exactly what Arsenal should be signing next month

Arsenal have been a victim of failing to act in the January transfer window before, as the start of this year showed as Arteta was unable to add to the squad that ultimately played a big role in the Gunners missing out on top-four. And the north London side can’t afford to make the same mistake again.
Which is why Arsenal setting out a plan to sign an experienced midfielder is such an encouraging sign, with a move for Tielemans over Danilo a good step in the right direction for Arteta’s side heading into the second-half of the Premier League season.
