Arsenal have held talks over the signing of Benjamin Henrichs but RB Leipzig aren’t keen to lose the defender.
Benjamin Henrichs is the latest defender to emerge as an Arsenal though but a deal could be tricky this summer.
That is according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg and Philipp Hinze, who claim that Arsenal have started moving for Henrichs.
Plettenberg claims that Arsenal have made their first move by starting talks with the representatives of the RB Leipzig defender.
Hinze adds that RB Leipzig really don’t want to lose Henrichs though and that he is an important player under Marco Rose.
That makes a deal pretty difficult but Kicker claim that Arsenal do want Henrichs if they can’t land Joao Cancelo from Manchester City.
The idea may be for Arsenal to bring in a full back who can play on both the left and right side of defence.
Cancelo and Henrichs certainly fit that bill with the latter featuring in both roles for RB Leipzig last season.
Hailed as ‘absolutely top-class’ by his former Bayer Leverkusen boss Roger Schmidt, Henrichs has impressed in the Bundesliga and attracted Mikel Arteta’s interest.

RB Leipzig have already lost key players this summer and may not want to lose any more.

Defender Josko Gvardiol is edging closer to joining Manchester City with Premier League clubs attempting to pillage the Bundesliga side.
RB Leipzig can’t keep losing key players and that may just make their stance on Henrichs even stronger.
Those big-money sales mean RB Leipzig won’t be moving Henrichs on for the cash, and they will be in a strong position to stand firm.
Henrichs would also be trading a key role at RB Leipzig for a squad role at Arsenal, which may not appeal to the German having really kicked on last term.
