Arsenal have taken a look at Nice midfielder Khephren Thuram as Mikel Arteta weighs up his options in the engine room.

Khephren Thuram is one name on Arsenal’s radar after the midfielder excelled for Nice.

That is according to The Independent, who claim that Thuram is one of a number of midfielders eyed up by the Premier League elite.

Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United are thought to have been fishing in the same ponds for new midfielders.

Thuram is one name in the group of midfielders alongside Romeo Lavia and Moises Caicedo.

The Nice star has already attracted major interest this summer and Liverpool have been most-strongly linked.

90Min reported in May that Liverpool had opened talks to sign Thuram alongside his friend and Borussia Monchengladbach midfielder Manu Kone.

Liverpool ended up going in a different direction by signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai.

The Reds are back in for other midfielders though with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho heading off to Saudi Arabia.

Thuram could end up back on Liverpool’s wish list but Arsenal are now showing an interest too.

Khephren Thuram only makes sense for Arsenal if Thomas Partey leaves

We can understand why the Premier League’s top clubs are showing an interest in signing Thuram.

The Frenchman is a huge presence at 6ft 4in tall and has shown the ability to play either as a midfielder anchor or in a more box-to-box role.

The son of legendary French defender Lilian Thuram, Khephren – hailed as ‘fantastic’ by Didier Digard – seems destined for a huge future.

A transfer this summer wouldn’t be a huge surprise but a move to Arsenal doesn’t really add up right now.

Arsenal have already added Declan Rice following Granit Xhaka’s exit, giving the Gunners a flexible midfield addition.

Thomas Partey has been linked away this summer but until he moves on, it’s hard to see a deal for a new midfielder going through.

Arsenal may just have top hope that nobody else pounds for Thuram in the meantime with the 22-year-old a hugely impressive talent.
