Arsenal’s search for a striker continues this summer, with Tammy Abraham a name constantly being mentioned alongside the Gunners – and now, they could have a chance to get him thanks to Hector Bellerin.
Abraham, 24, joined Roma last summer from Chelsea for a fee in the region of £34million. He has since starred for the Serie A outfit, scoring 27 goals in 53 games and helping his side win the Europa Conference League.
Reports claim Arsenal have held talks with representatives over a move – as have Aston Villa and Newcastle. The Mail are among numerous outlets to claim that Roma want an eye-watering £100million for Abraham.
- Newcastle and Tottenham want Leeds star, but Elland Road is his best move
- Robin Koch an unsung hero at right-back in Leeds’ final games of 21/22
A fee that is simply unachievable and will certainly need some negotiation in order to bring it back down to an affordable level. But Arsenal might have just been handed the ideal chance to do that.
Could Arsenal get Abraham thanks to Bellerin: Swap deal?
Reports on Monday claim that Bellerin is to return to Arsenal, but only ‘in passing’. Indeed, five clubs are on his trail including Inter Milan and Juventus. Fiorentina, his loan side Real Betis – and Jose Mourinho’s Roma.
Bellerin is keen to join Betis permanently, but ultimately Arsenal have a say where he goes considering there is a year left on his contract. So, could they use Roma’s interest in Bellerin to their advantage?
Because of his contract, it might be that he costs just £15million – as reported. It would knock a sizeable chunk off the £100million price tag, but some more negotiating would need to be done.
But surely, Roma would be open to a move if Arsenal include Bellerin given their interest. Perhaps, an offer of £70million plus Bellerin might tempt Roma to cash in on Abraham this summer.
