‘Arsenal have agreed’: Watts shares what he’s been told about Marquinhos’ style of play

Charles Watts has shared that Marquinhos can play on ‘either side’ of the wing, as a deal to Arsenal is ‘very close’, as he told his own YouTube channel. 

The Arsenal transfer expert added that he has been told that the upcoming Brazilian star ‘can play centrally’ also, although, he is ‘very much considered a winger’. 

At 19-years-old, only very few Arsenal fans will know about the Sao Paulo player, his style of play and how he likes to operate on the front line.

In truth, not many would have heard about the player until his name cropped up on their transfer rumour mill.

But, it’s these unknown signings that prove to be gems, as Gabriel Martinelli is proving at the Emirates, as Watts shared an insight into his fellow countryman.

“This deal Is very, very close to happening now,” said Watts. “Arsenal have agreed a fee with Sao Paulo for Marquinhos.

“It’s going to be around £3 million. Give or take. He’s 19 – he’s a winger. He can play on either side. He’s very left-footed.

“His favoured role is out on the right-hand side and cutting in so he can get shots away on his left foot. He can play centrally as well. 

“Although, he is very much considered a winger according to the people I have been speaking to about him.

“His goal record isn’t great, according to the people that watch and have seen a lot more of him than I have. His finishing needs improving. But he’s 19 – Arsenal see him one for the future.” 

CAN MARQUINHOS FOLLOW IN MARTINELLI’S FOOTSTEPS? 

If Marquinhos needs any encouragement that he can thrive in England, then Martinelli is the prime example.

It has been a tough, enjoyable and bumpy ride for the Arsenal winger, but he is showing serious promise under Mikel Arteta.

Whilst Marquinhos clearly isn’t going to be signed for the here and now, it is further proof of the club looking towards the future.

Added with the likes of Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Kieran Tierney and Martin Odegaard, if these guys continue to progress, then the Gunners will have a serious team on their hands in a few years time.
