Eddie Nketiah continues to be a pleasant surprise at Arsenal.
The 21-year-old hitman scored a brilliant double for Arsenal in their 4-2 victory at Chelsea a couple of weeks ago.
And last week against Manchester United, scored a disallowed goal which, really, should’ve been awarded.
Considering his struggles this season for the most part, playing third fiddle behind Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang during the first half of the campaign, these performances are something of a surprise.
And Arsenal goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo has more surprise information about the linked-away hitman.
Okonkwo has revealed to Goal that Nketiah – who’s out of contract in North London this summer – has the hardest shot of anyone in the Gunners’ training session, along with Granit Xhaka.
He said: “The Hardest shot? Eddie Nketiah can hit the ball. Granit [Xhaka] as well. I would say those are the people to be afraid of in training.”
As good as Nketiah has been these past couple weeks, Arsenal need him to continue in the same vein.
That’s because Mikel Arteta’s side are going for Champions League qualification and with Lacazette not scoring all season, the young Hale End graduate is charged with getting the Gunners into Europe’s elite competition.
It’s a lot to ask of a player who Arteta barely even acknowledged before the Chelsea game, and one who’s out of contract in a couple of months.
But it’s in Nketiah’s interest too because even if he does want to still leave Arsenal, impressing during the final few Premier League appearances will open up a lot more exciting opportunities for him this summer.
