Arsenal want Gianluca Scamacca but the Italian press were far from impressed with the Sassuolo striker against England on Saturday.

It’s abundantly clear that a new striker if Arsenal’s top priority this summer.

Alexandre Lacazette has returned to Lyon and whilst Eddie Nketiah may stay, that deal hasn’t yet been completed.

Arsenal simply have to go for a new striker and a host of potential signings have been linked with the Gunners.

Arsenal want Gianluca Scamacca

One such name is that of Sassuolo striker Scamacca, with 90Min claiming that Edu is a huge fan of the Italian hitman.

Scamacca, 23, hit 16 goals in 36 Serie A games last season and now seems ready for a big move.

At 6ft 5in tall, Scamacca is something completely different for Arsenal to be targeting.

A physical striker with impressive technique too, Scamacca looks set for a big future and Arsenal are now keen.

Arsenal had a great chance to see Scamacca in action last night as he started in Italy’s attack against England.

Scamacca couldn’t find the net in a 0-0 draw at Molineux but did stop the ball dead out of the air at one point in the second half, showing off his great touch.

The Italian press weren’t too impressed with Scamacca though as they criticised his display against England.

Tuttomercatoweb rated Scamacca at just 5.5 out of 10, the lowest of any starter in the Italy team.

They suggested that Scamacca did little to trouble Harry Maguire and Fikayo Tomori in the heart of England’s defence.

Maguire has been suspect defensively for some time now and Scamacca being unable to trouble him will be a concern.

Still, it’s just one game and Scamacca has more than proven himself in Italy; if Arsenal really like him, Saturday’s performance won’t put them off.
