Gary Neville has hailed Gabriel Martinelli after naming him as Arsenal’s Man of the Match in their 3-2 win over Liverpool on Sunday.
Martinelli got the goalscoring started at the Emirates Stadium as he ran in behind Trent Alexander-Arnold to score inside two minutes.
Darwin Nunez levelled it up before Martinelli’s run and pass set up Bukayo Saka to score on the stroke of half time.
Roberto Firmino hauled Liverpool level again but Arsenal wouldn’t be denied with Saka scoring the winner from the penalty spot.

Gary Neville has hailed Gabriel Martinelli
Arsenal sit top of the Premier League table with just one defeat this season and fans are starting to dream of a remarkable season.
Martinelli has been key to Arsenal’s great start to the season and he was absolutely electric against Liverpool.
We have seen Martinelli and Alexander-Arnold have some exciting battles before but there can be no doubt who won this one.
Martinelli darted behind Alexander-Arnold to calmly slot the opener inside the first minute.
We also saw the Brazilian absolutely blaze past Luis Diaz on the counter-attack and the Colombian is hardly a slouch.
When Martinelli broke at the end of the first half, he squared up Jordan Henderson and had the composure to chop back and find Saka for the goal.
Joe Gomez came on but it was more of the same as Martinelli looked a constant threat throughout Arsenal’s impressive victory.
Gary Neville offered his praise for Martinelli, naming him as the Man of the Match on Sky Sports (09/10, 95th minute).
Neville noted that everyone who came up against Martinelli just seemed to struggle, believing it was an ‘easy decision’ to name him as Man of the Match.
“Goals, assists, Trent Alexander-Arnold taken off, Mohamed Salah taken off, Joe Gomez has struggled against him in the second half,” said Neville. “I think it’s quite an easy decision,” he added.
Others may have impressed for Arsenal but this was Martinelli’s day and at just 21, you can see many more of these performances coming.
