Arsenal beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 2-0 on Saturday evening with Gabriel Martinelli promising that there is more to come very soon.

The Gunners knew a win would take them five points clear of Manchester City after their defeat to Brentford earlier in the day.

It took a while but Arsenal did go in front as Martin Odegaard converted Fabio Vieira’s pass from close range.

Odegaard added his and Arsenal’s second, thumping home after Jose Sa had blocked a Gabriel Martinelli effort.

Gabriel Martinelli celebrates Arsenal win

The World Cup break is upon us and this win means that Arsenal will sit top of the Premier League table at Christmas.

Few could have even dreamed of that scenario before the start of the season but here we are.

Arsenal continue to reap the rewards of Mikel Arteta’s approach and his development of young players.

The likes of Bukayo Saka, William Saliba and Ben White have all been thriving under Arteta and Gabriel Martinelli is on that list too.

Martinelli had a hand in Odegaard’s second goal as Jose Sa managed to deny the Brazilian.

Martinelli will now head off to Qatar with the Brazilian national team, though just how much he can expect to play is unclear.

Vinicius Junior is Brazil’s main left winger whilst Rodrygo and Neymar could feature there if needed.

Martinelli is just celebrating Saturday’s win ahead of jetting off to Qatar and he took to Twitter on Saturday night to send a message.

Martinelli suggested that he hopes Arsenal fans enjoyed that 2-0 win over Wolves as much as the players did at Molineux.

The winger then added a very exciting six-word promise, staying ‘more to give once we’re back’.

Arsenal now don’t play again until Boxing Day – a gap of more than a month.

The hope is that Arsenal can continue this form and Martinelli clearly thinks that can happen after the World Cup.
