Paul Merson has written in The Daily Star that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should play Gabriel Martinelli down the middle now that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has left for Barcelona.
The former Arsenal star believes that Martinelli could become a superstar for the Gunners.
The Sky Sports pundit has said that Arsenal boss Arteta should play the 20-year-old Brazilian forward as the central striker.
Merson wroe in The Daily Star: “You can’t rely on Alexandre Lacazette to get you goals. I would play Martinelli there.
“Take a chance on him. He’s very lively. Very quick. Defenders don’t like that. If he gets away from you, he’s in. He’s bright, and he’s a good finisher.
“He could be the superstar Arsenal are waiting for, and they play through the lines, they play delicate little balls that he thrives on. Give him a go.”

Martinelli could replace Aubameyang in Arsenal lineup
In our view, Martinelli could replace Aubameyang as the main striker at Arsenal, but he should be shown patience and must be allowed to grown into that role.
The 20-year-old is a very mobile attacking player who can score goals and link up well with his teammates.
Martinelli has played most of his games so far this season out wide, but Arteta could decide to deploy him more centrally now that Aubameyang has left for good and still allow him the freedom to drift wide.
The Arsenal no. 35 has scored four goals and provided two assists in 10 Premier League starts so far this season.
Martinelli is a very good and highly-rated forward player who is only 20 and could be a star for Arsenal in years to come.
