Trevor Sinclair has criticised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta on Twitter for his comments on Gabriel Martinelli after the match against Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The former Manchester City winger believes that Arteta was wrong to defend Arsenal forward Martinelli.
The talkSPORT pundit has said that it is due to such attitude from Arteta that Arsenal have a problem with ill discipline.
Martinelli sent off for Arteta’s Arsenal
As reported by The Sun, Martinelli tried to block a throw-in from being taken, pushing taker Daniel Podence.
Then moments later the Brazilian forward committed a needless foul on Chiquinho, prompting referee Michael Oliver to blow his whistle.
Oliver showed the Arsenal forward a yellow card for the incident on Podence and a second yellow card for his foul on Chiquinho.
Arsenal, though, still won the match 1-0.
Arteta said after the match, as quoted in Football.London: “To be fair, it’s the first time I’ve seen a red card like this in 18 years that I’ve been in this league. I think you have to be pretty willing to give a red card in that situation.”

According to The London Evening Standard, Arsenal have had 15 red cards since Arteta was appointed as the manager in December 2019.
The Gunners have received four red cards since the turn of the year.
It is really worrying for Arsenal that they tend to finish games 1o men on several occasions.
Trevor Sinclair’s verdict
Sinclair believes that Arteta defending Martinelli for the red card that he thinks the forward deserves shows the problem.
