Juventus want Gabriel Magalhaes but Arsenal would be crazy to accept a swap deal involving midfielder Arthur Melo this summer.

Juve have sold Matthijs de Ligt to Bayern Munich whilst Bremer has arrived as his replacement from city rivals Torino.

Yet with Giorgio Chiellini gone too, Juventus seem interested in snapping up another left-sided centre back.

A few names have been linked, but one that keeps coming up again and again is Arsenal ace Gabriel.

Gabriel really impressed last season and formed a strong partnership with Ben White in the heart of Arsenal’s back line.

The Brazilian brings the balance Mikel Arteta wanted thanks to being naturally left-footed and should be part of the Arsenal side for years to come.

Yet there have been new reports this week surrounding Juventus and their interest in Gabriel.

Calciomercato suggested that Arsenal were considering a deal which would see Gabriel join Juventus with midfielder Arthur Melo coming the other way.

Make no mistake; this would be an absurd deal for Arsenal to even contemplate, never mind go through with this summer.

Arsenal chased another left-sided defender in Lisandro Martinez, but he was signed by Manchester United instead.

A deal worth more than £50million was struck, showing just how highly-valued left-sided centre backs are in the modern game.

If Arsenal do let Gabriel go, they will find it incredibly difficult to replace him with the same level of quality.

Additionally, Arthur is completely out of favour at Juventus and hardly what Arsenal need right now.

Thomas Partey, Granit Xhaka, Martin Odegaard, Fabio Vieira, Mohamed Elneny, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Oleksandr Zinchenko can all play in central midfield.

Arthur would just be another player for that rotation; why let a key man in Gabriel leave just to get in a player who wouldn’t be a nailed-on starter?

This move just makes absolutely no sense for Arsenal and whilst Edu may be a fan of Gabriel, his priority should be to keep hold of Gabriel for a long time yet.
