Arsenal have signed Gabriel Jesus and Manchester City ace Oleksandr Zinchenko has now praised him as ‘phenomenal’.
A new striker was the top priority for the Gunners this summer.
Arsenal needed a new hitman anyway but Alexandre Lacazette’s departure back to Lyon only accelerated the need for a goalscorer.
Edu was linked with signing a number of different strikers but their top target was abundantly clear.
Jesus was the priority for weeks, even months as Edu and Mikel Arteta focused their attention on the Brazilian.
Arsenal have signed Gabriel Jesus
Edu knows Jesus from the Brazilian national team setup whilst Arteta coached him at Manchester City.
Add in that Jesus – used as a winger for most of last season – can now play as a leading striker as he wanted and this deal seems perfect for all.
A week after a £45million deal was agreed, Jesus was finally confirmed as an Arsenal player on Monday.
Jesus leaves City after five-and-a-half years with the club, racking up 236 appearances and 95 goals during his time with the club.
Pep Guardiola was a huge fan and Arsenal should now have the 25-year-old for his prime years in North London.
That’s hugely exciting for Arsenal fans but some at City will of course be sad to see him go.
City teammate Oleksandr Zinchenko has now taken to Instagram to react to Jesus leaving for Arsenal.
Zinchenko called Jesus ‘phenomenal’, adding ‘What a player and person. True warrior which never gonna stop. I wish you all the best my brother’.
An interesting angle here is that Arsenal are also interested in signing Zinchenko according to reports from the London Evening Standard.
Zinchenko clearly loves Jesus and if there is a real chance of them reuniting in North London, the Ukrainian may just jump at the chance to join Arsenal this summer.
