Gary Lineker has hailed Gabriel Jesus
There were a number of quality performances in the Arsenal side on Saturday but striker Jesus again stole the show.
The Brazilian just looks like an absolutely perfect fit for Arsenal and potentially the signing of the summer from Manchester City.
Jesus didn’t get himself on the scoresheet in this one, with VAR ruling out a second-half strike.
Still, his role in the opening goal was truly outstanding.
Jesus controlled the ball superbly under pressure from Marcos Senesi before shrugging him aside.
Jesus then ghosted past Jefferson Lerma and Adam Smith before laying in Granit Xhaka, who’s shot was parried out to Odegaard for the tap-in.
This moment of individual quality is exactly why Arsenal have signed Jesus, and he has been earning praise from all corners.
Gary Lineker joined in on Saturday evening, taking to Twitter to suggest that Jesus ‘appears to have morphed into Messi’.
The silky dribbling and composure in the final third shown by Jesus against Bournemouth would have surely left Messi himself impressed.
Arsenal may not have found the new Lionel Messi, but they have found their new talisman in Jesus.
We can only assume that more goals, more assists and more moments of world-class quality are on the horizon for Jesus, with more praise surely coming his way this season.
