Arsenal are signing Gabriel Jesus and the Manchester City striker has now been spotted with Gunners technical director Edu for the first time.
Arsenal have already snapped up three new faces in Matt Turner, Marquinhos and Fabio Vieira to boost Mikel Arteta’s squad.
Yet the big addition Arsenal simply had to secure this summer was that of a new striker given Alexander Lacazette’s departure.
A number of names have been linked but Jesus has been Arsenal’s top target throughout – and they seem to have landed their man.
Arsenal are signing Gabriel Jesus
Arsenal have been desperate to land Jesus and the move just made perfect sense.
Boss Mikel Arteta coached Jesus at City whilst technical director Edu knows Jesus from the Brazil national team setup.
Add in that Jesus is entering the final year of his City contract and it all plays into Arsenal’s hands.
City won’t want to see Jesus leave for nothing next summer and have now decided to cash in by selling to Arsenal now.
A £45million deal has now been agreed and Fabrizio Romano reported earlier today that Jesus was in London for a medical.
The Sun have now published photos showing Jesus arriving for his Arsenal medical.
Those photos show Jesus shaking Edu’s hand and hugging the Arsenal man as this deal finally looks set to be completed.
As long as Jesus’s medical goes well today, we could see Arsenal announce Jesus’s arrival before the close of play.
Jesus will now get exactly what he wants; the chance to feature as a first-choice striker.
Pep Guardiola often used the Brazilian out wide last season but it’s now back to playing through the middle as Arsenal land their man.
Arsenal aren’t done yet and still want Lisandro Martinez and Raphinha to join Jesus at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
